Why we quote car keys on the phone instead of printing a price
Because a car key's price is set by three things, and none of them are visible from a website: how the blade is cut, what chip is inside it, and how the vehicle lets that chip be registered.
A standard cut key with a basic transponder — most Japanese and domestic vehicles from roughly 1998 to 2012 — is cheap to produce and quick to program. A laser-cut or 'sidewinder' blade needs a different, more expensive cutting machine. A proximity fob for a push-to-start car isn't cut at all, but the fob hardware costs real money and some manufacturers gate the registration behind procedures that take time.
That's the whole spread, and it is why we ask about your key rather than your car. Nothing here depends on what the vehicle is worth — anyone pricing off the badge on your hood is pricing off your wallet.

The ignition problem worth catching early
If your key has started requiring a jiggle, a specific angle, or two hands to turn, the ignition cylinder is wearing out — not the key. Replacing the key will not fix it. It will keep getting worse and it will eventually strand you, usually somewhere inconvenient.
Rebuilding a worn cylinder costs the same whether you do it now or after it fails. The difference is that doing it after also costs you a tow. This is one of the few genuinely useful pieces of advice in this trade: don't wait it out.

Can you make a key if I've lost every single one?
Yes. That's called an all-keys-lost job and it's routine. We originate a new key from the vehicle itself rather than copying an existing one. It takes longer than cutting a spare, so we quote it as its own job on the phone — you'll know the number before we drive out.
Do you need the car's title or registration?
We need proof the vehicle is yours — registration, title, or insurance in your name plus matching photo ID. Every legitimate locksmith asks for this. If one doesn't, that tells you something important about them.
Is a locksmith really cheaper than the dealer?
For most vehicles yes, and the bigger difference is time — we come to you today instead of you towing to a dealer and waiting days. For a handful of late-model European and luxury vehicles the manufacturer restricts key programming to franchised dealers, and when that's your car we tell you so on the phone instead of taking your money and failing in your driveway.
Can you program a key I bought online?
Often, and we'll quote you for programming alone. The honest caveat: cheap online fobs vary wildly in quality, and a fob that won't accept programming isn't a job we can complete — we'll still have made the trip. Buying the key from us avoids that gamble.
