Safe opening, quoted properly rather than guessed at
Safes are the clearest example of why we quote on the phone rather than printing a number. A big-box fire box and a burglary-rated safe are fundamentally different problems, and any figure that covers both is useless to you.
Getting your price
Have the make, rough age, and whether it's a dial or a keypad ready — that's enough for us to quote you.
What we need to know to quote you
The make, the model if you can find it, roughly how old it is, whether it's a dial or a keypad, and whether it's bolted down.
With those five things we can usually give you a firm number on the phone. Without them, anyone quoting you a price is guessing — and a guess that turns out low is exactly how the doorstep surprise happens.
Want the number? Have the make, rough age, and whether it's a dial or a keypad ready — that's enough for us to quote you. Call (323) 443-7828 .
Non-destructive first, always
Manipulation and safe-specific bypass techniques leave the safe usable afterward. Drilling means a repair, a new lock, and sometimes a safe that's no longer rated for what you bought it for.
We attempt the non-destructive route first on every job where it's viable. When drilling genuinely is the only option, we tell you before we start, and we tell you what putting it back together will cost.
The common cases
Combination lost or never known — inherited safes and estate work are a large share of what we open. Keypad dead, which is very often just a battery and worth checking before you call anyone. Dial spinning freely, meaning the lock has failed internally. Bolt work jammed. Combination changes when someone who knew it no longer should.
Safe Service — straight answers
My digital safe won't open — is it broken?
Check the batteries first. A large share of 'dead' keypad safes are just flat batteries, and most have an external battery compartment or a jump point. That's a free thing to try and we'll always say so before booking a visit.
Will opening it destroy the safe?
Usually not. Non-destructive opening is the goal on every job and it succeeds most of the time. If your safe turns out to need drilling, you'll hear it from us before the drill comes out, along with the repair cost.
Do I need to prove the safe is mine?
Yes. Proof of ownership and matching ID, every time, no exceptions. For estate and inherited safes we'll talk through what documentation works before scheduling.
Can you change the combination?
On most mechanical and electronic safes, yes, and it's far cheaper than an opening. If someone who shouldn't have your combination has it, this is the call to make.
Why can't you just tell me a price online?
Because the range across safe types is enormous, and a single printed number would be wrong for almost everybody who read it. Thirty seconds of questions on the phone gets you a figure we'll stand behind instead.
